Septic Safety

A septic tank or any other tank component of the septic system can be very dangerous for children or other untrained people. No one with out proper training should be allowed to work on your septic system.

Concrete septic tank lids are very heavy and sometimes do not have very good lifting rungs. If a person does not have the proper tools to lift these lids serious back or other body injury can occur.

The inside of a septic tank is considered by the Workers Compensation Board to be a confined space. Every year sewer workers are killed when entering into these confined spaces. Do not allow anyone with out proper confined space entry training to enter into your septic tank.

The liquid in a septic tank is full of disease-causing bacteria. If you are exposed to this liquid please practice the highest form of personal hygiene to avoid any unnecessary health risk.
