Effluent Filters

Effluent filters were first installed by our company in the CRD area about 10 years ago (1992). They have proved to be such a huge boon to the on-site systems that now it has been incorportated as a health regulation that all septic tanks are to be equipped with them.

Effluent filters are attached to the septic tank outlet device effectively retaining as much as 70% to 80% of all liquid suspended sewage particles inside the septic tank. These suspended solid sewage particles if not trapped by the filter would enter your drain field and cause premature failure.

It is unnecessary to clean effluent filters unless they are fully plugged. Filters work more efficiently when partially blocked with suspended sewage particles.

Zabel filters and Flow Link filters are made of plastic and are very easy to clean when the septic tank is being pumped out. You will know when the filter needs cleaning for the lowest sewage draining fixture in your house will start to slow down. Zabel and Flow Link filters do not plug up overnight, and they will give you lots of warning that they need cleaning.
